A very good example, with good strong colours, of a c1930s rug (approx 6ft by 4ft) designed by the Scottish artist, George Bain (1881-1968), considered the father of modern Celtic design.
The George Bain Collection is housed at Groam House Museum in Ross-shire, Scotland.
Some of his work is/was at the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh.
This carpet, "The Celtic Hunting Rug" was designed by him and made by Quayle & Tranter of Kiddeminster.
