A rare, richly carved Arts & Crafts small chest/coffer in walnut, with lift up lid and highlighted carvings of leaf/flame like motifs to front and sides.
An early piece, designed and made by Arthur Simpson of Kendal, c1900. Of excellent colour/patination and typical heart shaped key escutcheon.
Fully incised signature; AW Simpson, to the underside.
