Superb Art Nouveau/Arts & Crafts walnut & tooled leather large single motto bed (to take a 6ft 3" by 3ft 6" mattress) very much in the manner of Shapland & Petter of Barnstaple, Devon,with the shaped splats, Voyseyesque shaped bottom apron and beautifully carved bedhead finials. Original oak side rails. Height of headboard 64"; height of footboard 40".
Overall max width 44". Overall max length 79.5".
The highlight is the tooled, embossed large leather central panel with floral motifs and the motto:
" Earths Great Dreamers Men Supreme Lie Not In Their Beds To Dream"; c1905.
