An unusual, rare and very decorative pair of Arts & Crafts polychromed painted plaster panels, in their original architectural frames by Miss M Christine Connell.
Both inscribed upper right, M C Connell, and indeed one of the panels has her original carte de visite (with her London address) verso.
The scenes are from the circa 18thC English nursery rhyme, “Sing a song of sixpence”; one panel depicting the queen in her parlour eating bread and honey, and the companion panel depicting the maid in the garden hanging out the clothes.
