A superb and rare oak & copper Arts & Crafts Glasgow Style box seat hall settle by Shapland & Petter of Barnstaple, Devon, probably for Wylie & Lochhead of Glasgow. Shape No. 1133 in their archives.
Stunning high quality and very well patinated hand wrought repousse copper panels, with typical floral and roundel design to seat back and front panels, and stylish heart cut-outs to back splats. Seat lifts up for that all important storage area. Approx 48" wide, 46" high and 19" deepest; c1900.
We had a similar one a few years ago (now sold) with fruitwood inlays instead of the metal panels.
