Kenneth Lampard Cotswold School work-table

RESERVED

Code: 10159

A sweet little Cotswold School work-table/cabinet consisting of a small table combined with a work box with sliding compartmentalised tray;
by Kenneth D Lampard (born 1926).
The inside with a very striking, shimmering carved sunburst effect cut of the wood.
Unusually, the forged Gimson style handles are in solid silver, with Kenneth Lampard`s own Birmingham hallmarks,
dated for 1955; a very rare piece.
Overall, very much in the manner of Edward Barnsley.
In fact, Kenneth Lampard was at one time a pupil of Edward Barnsley at Loughborough Teacher Training College;
where he trained as a handicrafts teacher.

He was elected a Member of the Arts & Crafts Exhibition Society in 1948 and has exhibited at the Crafts Centre of Great Britain since 1950.

An almost identical work table in walnut (the only other known example by him), lined in English plane, with handles forged in gilding metal,
is illustrated and featured in " Handmade Woodwork of the Twentieth Century" by AE Bradshaw, p 63.

Approx 20" wide, 12" depth and 23" high.
