Arthur Simpson of Kendal chest cabinet

Code: 10747

SOLD

A good oak Arts & Crafts piece by Arthur Simpson of Kendal, in the form of a chest/cabinet that would be equally useful in either a bedroom setting, dining room or perhaps a hall piece.
Two short over one long drawer with a shaped apron on three sides and of course, typically stylised Arthur Simpson handles (possibly made by Harold Rathbone); c1910. A similar piece (different handles) is in the furniture collection at Blackwell, The Arts & Crafts House in the Lake District.
A similar piece was used by AWS himself in his bedroom as a dressing table upon which he added a removable mirror, and is illustrated in the book: The Simpsons of Kendal: Craftsmen in Wood, 1885 - 1952 by Eleanor Davidson.
