A rare, wider size and superbly inlaid mahogany Arts & Crafts/ Glasgow Style low bookcase by Shapland & Petter of Barnstaple after designs of the architect-designer, Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott; c1900.
Approx 36" high by 36" wide by 8.25" depth.
Two open shelves above central base cupboard, flanked by recesses. Lovely styling, with square cut-outs to the sides, ebony & boxwood chequered banding and other fruitwood inlays to front of stylised plant forms. Can be floor standing or wall hung.
These bookcases usually came in a smaller dwarf size (we have had a couple in the past); this one significantly wider.
