Another rare WAS Benson piece of furniture; a previously unseen model.
A superb, rare and unusual Arts & Crafts small desk in ash, c1910, by Morris & Co and designed by William Arthur Smith Benson;
good friend of William Morris and later himself, director of Morris & Co.
The (lockable) drawers on both sides of the desk open fully.
Excellent quality carving throughout and Benson designed brass handles to drawers.
A similar version desk (with raised superstructure/three quarter gallery) is illustrated in the Morris & Co catalogues of the time.
Of excellent compact proportions.
This is even smaller and more desirable than the one we had (now sold - Ref 10201); would almost work in any room setting.
Also has the added exquisite Art Nouveau organic carving to the sides.
Approx 28" high, 28" wide and 22" depth.
