As the saying goes; "As rare as hen's teeth!"
Something for the serious collector/lover of beautiful pieces.
A little gem.....unique occasional small oak Arts & Crafts/Art Nouveau table by the architect-designer, WAS Benson.
Exquisitely carved floral detail to top (similar motifs used in some of his metalwork designs) and carved flared legs.
Incised with his initials to underside; c1890.
Almost certainly a one-off and indeed Benson's own table; a piece he made himself for his own use.
See archive images of the table used in his flat in Montague Square and the watercolour of his flat interior (the latter with artistic licence) .
This predates his designs for Morris & Co (of which he was later Director);
so INCREDIBLY rare and special/valuable.
Approx 24" high, 13" top diameter.
