Morris & Co/WAS Benson desk

A superb, rare and unusual Arts & Crafts small desk, c1910, by Morris & Co and designed by William Arthur Smith Benson; good friend of William Morris and later director of Morris & Co. 
The (lockable) drawers on both sides of the desk open fully.
Excellent quality carving throughout and Benson designed brass handles to drawers.
A similar version desk (with raised superstructure/three quarter gallery) is illustrated in the Morris & Co catalogues of the time.
Of excellent compact proportions.
