A highly important and extremely scarce original Birmingham Guild of Handicraft patinated brass table lamp, c1893;
designed by Arthur Stansfield Dixon (1856-1929). h: 20"
Beautifully & simply designed; with four curved stems that support a dished conical shade, which in turn are riveted through balls onto a scalloped base. An example of this lamp is held at the V&A Museum in London; originally a wedding gift in 1895 from
Arthur Dixon to his fellow Arts & Crafts architect-designer, Charles Robert Ashbee.
Only three other known, complete & original, examples in the public domain.
