Unusual Arts & Crafts Birmingham Guild of Handicraft large desk

Unusual Arts & Crafts Birmingham Guild of Handicraft large desk

Code: 11116

SOLD

Almost certainly a one-off, unusual and very wide (70”) fruitwood (possibly pear or applewood) Arts & Crafts desk;
 with cupboards at either end; the left cupboard with two drawers.

It was apparently made by Montague Fordham (1864-1948) himself;
the first director of the Birmingham Guild of Handicraft (BGH) for his own use.
Has been in the family by descent till recently.
The fabulous hand beaten patinated brass metalwork handles of course are by the BGH.

Unsual and very practical proportions in that, considering its width, not too deep.
We can vouch for it's practicality as currently happily using it in our Kensington shop!

Dimensions; approx 70” wide, 29.5” high and 20” deep.
