Richard Riemerschmid Liberty 6 chairs

Richard Riemerschmid Liberty 6 chairs

Code: 10743

SOLD
An extremely important and very scarce set of six oak Arts & Crafts chairs by
Liberty & Co after Richard Riemerschmid, circa 1905.
Riemerschmid originally designed the iconic and best known Music Room chair, first shown at the 1899 Dresden Art Exhibition; its armless form allowing the freedom of movement for the musicians. Liberty subsequently imported these at the time and also later made their own versions (as per this set) with chamfered arms and legs. Visually very satisfying and pleasing (an understatement) and an extremely comfortable sturdy chair. Newly reupholstered and recovered in fine quality leather.
