Superb and previously unseen quartered oak Arts & Crafts Glasgow Style oak open armchair attributed to a MH Baillie Scott design, with the typical tall back running down to the base. Curved sweeping arms on chamfered upper uprights that lead to tapering square legs. Exquisite deep carving to pierced back - the whole a very simple and strong design. c 1900. Probably made by William Birch of High Wycombe for Wylie & Lochhead of Glasgow (the latter for which Baillie Scott designed).
Approx 40" high.
