Great pair of (clearly used!) Arts & Crafts Cotswold School iron firedogs that were originally used (in the 20thC) at the late 17thC, Grade II* listed historic manor house, Barnsley House in the Cotswolds.
The design is based originally on anthemion ornament from Greek atchitecture.
Barnsley House in the mid 20thC became famous for its gardens, designed by renowned landscape architect, Rosemary Verey.
Rosemary married David Verey in 1939, whose family owned Barnsley House.
These fire dogs have come down the family by descent.
We have deliberately left as is but of course can be "cleaned up" if necessary.
Dimensions to follow but at least some 2ft tall (from memory!)
