A rare ebonised oak “Domino” table, the square top above a Glasgow Style pierced cruciform stem and a clover leaf shaped quadrant shelf gallery mid-way, by the Scottish architect-designer, John Ednie (1876-1934). Ednie was also one of the chief designers at Wylie & Lochhead of Glasgow c1900.
This is a commissioned piece designed by him for 26 Huntly Gardens (now Athole Lane), Kelvinside, Glasgow; c1903. This table was first installed there for the billiards room in the house. Other famous “domino” tables include the ones designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the Argyle Street Tea Rooms.
