Rare Birmingham School Arts & Crafts painted table bookcase Kate Eadie

Code: 11306

POA

A truly superb and exquisitely finely painted Arts & Crafts table top bookcase; c1920s

Attributed to the Birmingham School artist and jeweller, Kate Eadie (1880-1940).

She designed and painted a piano in a very similar style (see last image from The Studio Yearbooks).

Approx 14.5" tall and 11.5" square across the top.

Profusely painted with many characters and allegorical scenes, with Shakespearean quotes across the top of each side.
Something new to see and discover each time you look!

Excellent provenance; having originally belonged to the woman who started the BBC Sound Archives (whom also hand bound a couple of the books included), and thence by descent.
